We were lucky to hear about R13 in May 2018, from a friend who advised that a person in Ardmore had a Rankin for sale. It was used for years as a punt. Having spent many hours and days trying to bring her back to her former glory we handed the boat over to Jim Walsh who did a fantastic job on her.

R13 would seem to sit in the middle of a design transition. She has all the hallmarks of an early purpose build Rankin: full length risers supporting the seats, 9mm ply, slight curve to the aft seat, three wide bottom boards each side of the hog. Yet the daggerboard box is off centre.

The boat is mainly used for our kids who love playing around during the summer months in Dungarvan. As they get older, we hope to do more racing in Cobh.
