Provenance

I inherited the Rankin from my grandfather who was from Cork city but lived in Killarney for over 50 years, where he used the Rankin for sailing on the lakes and on Kenmare Bay. It spent much of the last ten years under some bushes, but fortunately very carefully wrapped in tarps, near Caherciveen in west Kerry. We are gradually getting it back into commission, albeit storage conditions are still not ideal.

Last year we got a new trailer and an outboard, and managed to get her out on the water a number of times here in Dublin. This year we ordered sails from NorthSails but they took longer to arrive than anticipated. We still have some way to go to (Gunter) rig her, as the original mast was rotten. We have a replacement mast and yard but we are missing some fittings.
