The second of the protypes. She was Built for Dr Reynolds of Montenotte, Cork. Used mainly on lakes in West Cork and Kerry. Later owned by the Daly family. The boat lay in a Crosshaven boatyard owned by Dick Gibson for many years until tracked down by Maurice Kidney. She was then bought and restored to a very high standard by Johnny Horgan.

Her main construction / design features are:-

  • Cold moulded using 3 layers of mahogany laminate. Each layer is about 1.5mm thick. The inside and outside layers are run diagonally at 90 degrees to each other with the middle layer being horizontal
  • The Transom is made of 9mm ply mounted on a hardwood frame.
  • The main thwarts have square ends that “hang” from shaped plywood brackets scribed to the side of the hull.
  • The gunnels are made up of several thin layers of wood and likely to have been hand bent around the hull.
  • A built in buoyancy tank forward of the mast.
  • A centreline box tied into the mast thwart.
  • Four bottom boards either side of the hog.
  • Solid side seats that ran from the stern to 600mm aft of the main thwart. John has added side seats between the two thwarts.
  • Built as a punt and converted to sail by Eric Rankin a few years later.
  • Gunter rigged with a loose foot on the main.
