This early Rankin is a purpose build dinghy similar to R4 and 5. Gerry had her in safe keeping for a number of years before putting her in the hands of Dick Gibson in 2017, who carried out the work to perfection. Jim Walsh did the woodwork and plank repairs. Dick advised that “the boat was is extremely bad condition having been stored upside down in grass. The foredeck was removed, repairs to the stem were carried out and the top planks each side were re-laminated. The mast was re-glued as it had fallen apart on the workbench!”. Dick also advised she had been previously owned by Tony O’Conner, Fountainstown and before that Tony Wallace, Oysterhaven.

- The contrasting gunnel timbers are reversed on this boat , (pale, dark pale)
- 2026 will see her with a new Gunter rig and Jackels sails.
