Owner

Tom Quirk

Provenance

The Dorman family owned this Rankin dinghy when they lived in Rafeen House, Kinsale in the early 2000’s. When Colum O’Sullivan, bought the house in the 2010’s, he tracked the boat down to Courtmacsherry and reunited her with her previous home. She was then given the “Dick Gibson Monte Carlo treatment” and restored to perfection. Colum sailed her in Kinsale over the years, as well as participating in the Rankin Brothers’ Regatta Cup races in the early days. Column passed the boat on to the new owner of his Kinsale home, Tom Quirk. R5 was raced by James Long on behalf of Tom Quirk in the 2024 Rankin Worlds.
